This week I spent a few days with my parents in Liverpool. I went with them to my dad’s routine hospital appointment with the Parkinson’s team.
I’d like to share one of the books I enjoyed on my train journey:
Under the Same Sky
written and illustrated by Britta Teckentrup

In days gone by, I would have loved to read this gorgeous book to my 3 children as a bedtime story. It’s gentle, lilting rhythm and rhyme are ideal for soothing little ones to sleep. The book also provides a perfect prompt for thinking about faraway friends and family.

Some question suggestions for older readers:
I wonder why Britta chose the title, ‘Under the Same Sky’?
What do you notice when you look at the pictures? (The huge golden moon on the last page makes me think of a posh chocolate biscuit in a golden wrapper – it must be nearly tea time!)

I wonder what the two flamingoes are dreaming about?
Do you think they’re both dreaming the same dream?
These questions have no ‘right’ answers. They don’t have to be responded to. Just put them out there and see what happens…

Love these questions Julia – I’m missing a little one to read with and ask these questions to…
Me too, Rachel. I’m looking out for the little ones who are missing a big one to read with and ask questions to… 💞
