Make a mark

Over 10 years ago, my good friend Lizzie gave me a withdrawn library book. I have treasured it ever since.

As I continue to explore possibilities for my future, the book feels particularly poignant.

Yesterday afternoon, as I walked home after church, I saw a sign for Lesley Brankin’s solo exhibition in Weavers Gallery. I was intrigued – and encouraged – by the title:

In a brief conversation with the artist, Lesley shared how she had developed a health condition, which resulted in her having to leave her multi-award winning textiles and innovative textile work and change her artistic practice.

It was inspiring to see how her work has taken a fresh, new direction and how she was enjoying the freedom to explore different ways of working with ink.

Over the next 6 weeks, I hope to regularly post videos of me reading children’s picture books aloud. It will be my attempt to make a mark.

Let’s see if it takes me anywhere…
