‘Bet you can’t!’

by Penny Dale

I found this wonderful book in a charity shop for 99p. It helped to get me the temporary job of full-time reception class teacher at Ledbury Primary School. After starting with the story, my interview lesson included tipping out – and then tidying up – an assortment of items (mainly cvc words), before the children and I worked together to make lists of the items we had collected.

I love Penny Dale’s illustrations. To my mind, they complement the words to beautifully capture the relationship between the two siblings. As a mum, I can relate to the fun they have while they carry out a household chore (but I would not have been happy with the state of that basket at the end of the book!).
