‘The Very Busy Spider’ by Eric Carle

Let’s share a story and a walk through the Herefordshire countryside.

Here are 4 reasons why I admire this splendid spider:

1. She remains focused on her objective and determined to achieve it, expertly managing distracting voices.

2. She independently and skilfully spins an efficient (and beautiful) web.

3. Upon completing the task, she rises to the cockerel’s challenge and successfully catches the fly.

4. She is further rewarded with a sound night’s sleep, when even a hooting owl does not disturb her restful slumber.

Oh, Splendid Spider! Would you tell me your secret?

The spider didn’t answer. She was very busy…
