‘Shhh!’ by Sally Grindley and Peter Utton

I’ve had lots of fun sharing this book with children over the years. It’s probably not the best choice for a bedtime story, as it gets quite exciting at the end…

Please, Eastnor Castle, forgive me for trespassing through your front gates.

Want to join me on a walk from Ledbury as I search for a castle?

Off the Worcester Road, and up the hill into the Conigree.

Keep on climbing!

Out into open fields.

There were plenty of seedheads on display today.

Can you see the Malvern Hills?

More woodland…

More fields…

Welcome to Eastnor and the Malverns. Enjoy the views!

The castle wasn’t open today and the Deer Park was closed for the Mountain Bike Festival, but we stopped for an ice lolly at the Woodshed.

I’d be interested to know why Tewkesbury is a mile further if you’re turning left out of the Deer Park, than it is if you’re turning right out of Eastnor Castle.

On the way home, we popped round to Eastnor Pottery to say hello to Jon and Sarah. I could hear their voices, but the pottery looked very busy and we could see there were lots of people hard at work, so we didn’t go in.

A panorama of harvested fields on the way home.

If only I’d remembered a tub to collect some blackberries!
