1) When Julia met Anna and Phoebe…

While spending a week in Liverpool with my mum, I had the pleasure of meeting Anna (7) and Phoebe (3) for the first time. They came over one afternoon and we shared some stories together…

Book 1: ‘Bet you can’t’ by Penny Lane (Do you like the choice of author for a Liverpool read?)

I chose not to edit the videos, as I felt the interruptions were an authentic part of the recording. The films capture a sibling relationship between 3 year old Phoebe and her 7 year old sister, Anna, on their first day back after a busy week at a kids’ camp.

My aim is to model reading with children as a relaxed, enjoyable time of bonding through books, sharing thoughts and feelings, and learning together.

The Iron Men at Crosby

We day-tripped to Crosby to see the Iron Men on the Monday after the heatwave. When we reached the beach, the iron man over my right shoulder was cooling off and preserving his dignity in the murky water.

The beach didn’t quite meet my expectations after our visit in May half-term:

Crosby – May 2022
I’d have a fair few questions for my creator if I was a Crosby iron man…

We caught the train into Liverpool city centre on Tuesday. We explored Bluecoats arts centre and my mum treated me to lunch in Merseymade.

On Friday, we headed out to the end of the line and spent the day in Southport:

The end of Southport Pier

The pier goes out a long way – and so does the sea.

There were plenty of sea breezes to blow away the cobwebs!
