‘It is what it is.’ (Part 2/6)

From my tiny corner of the world, from my minute circle of influence, from my blurred understanding of the situation, I am using the voice I have been given to speak out for the needs of our most vulnerable children.

‘It is what it is.’ (Part 1/6)

The phrase, ‘it is what it is,’ appears to mean a whole lot of different things to a whole lot of different people.

And finally…

My 6 weeks of summer ‘mark-making’ end today. I decided to put all of the read-alouds together in one place: Thanks to everyone who joined me along the way.

A beautiful birthday book

Today, I’m sharing ‘Beautiful Oops’ by Barney Saltzberg. A birthday gift from my good friend, Jenny. I am now… “52, going on 5,” (said my 21 year old daughter, with a smile, when I showed her the start of the video).

1) When Julia met Anna and Phoebe…

While spending a week in Liverpool with my mum, I had the pleasure of meeting Anna (7) and Phoebe (3) for the first time. They came over one afternoon and we shared some stories together… Book 1: ‘Bet you can’t’ by Penny Lane (Do you like the choice of author for a Liverpool read?)

‘Shhh!’ by Sally Grindley and Peter Utton

I’ve had lots of fun sharing this book with children over the years. It’s probably not the best choice for a bedtime story, as it gets quite exciting at the end…
